Latest in Beauty Box

I've posted about Latest in Beauty before when I detailed what I ordered in my 'make your own box' back in March, since then obviously I've used up all of what I'd ordered so I thought it time to make up another box, last time I chose the six item box, this time I've gone for the nine item box and pretty much like in my last box I've opted for skin care products to try out rather than makeup.

So here's what I ordered this time;

April | Product Empties

I seriously cannot believe how fast time is flying by, it doesn't seem five minutes ago since I was writing about my March Product Favourites and now I'm here writing about my April empties.

Without much further ado, and because it scares me to focus on the speed that time is going by, here are my April empties.

The Fragrance Shop Discovery Club - Spring 2016

a picture of The Fragrance Shop Discovery Club Spring 2016 box
Last month when looking at subscription boxes to try I came across the Discovery Club by The Fragrance Shop which sends out samples of fragrances every quarter for a fairly small cost which is then refundable against the cost of one of the fragrances (whichever you choose) included.

Strivectin Illuminating Serum

I chose Strivectin's Illuminating Serum in my 'build a box' from Latest in Beauty primarily from the claims that it would "diminish dull skin, even skin tone and enhance overall clarity," of the skin. My skin isn't particularly dull but I do have different skin tones across my face, from perfectly decent to the Rudolph the red nosed reindeer affect and a few other shades in-between. So anything that could even out those tones would get a thumbs up from me.

Latest in Beauty Box

Getting nostalgic for a moment about my old blogging life, I realised after searching for a good beauty box that I was there at the birth of beauty boxes in this country. I probably was even amongst the first to sign up for Glossybox. I remember the debates between bloggers about how good, or bad it would be. Then the initial hiccups, the lovers, the haters, the mehs.

And now five years on, there are so many different beauty boxes to choose from, catering from the younger generation (So Susan) to those on a budget (Glossybox, You Beauty Discovery, Birchbox) to those who don't mind spending more but don't want a monthly subscription (Latest in Beauty, U Feel Unique) Even specialising in certain areas such as nails (Nail Box) or for vegans (LoveLula) or those who want organic products (Naturisimo) and that's not even an exhaustive list.

There were so many in fact that when I decided I wanted to try them again, the only way I managed to make a decision about which box to buy was the fact that Latest in Beauty allowed you to choose your own contents. Less surprise and more delight for me, having had a few too many boxes in the past containing makeup products that were completely wrong for my skin tone. It also isn't subscription based which is ideal for just trying it out, as no one wants to sign up for something to discover they hate it.

Anyway, putting nostalgia aside for a moment I just wanted to quickly run through what I had in my box;

Cult 51 Night Cream

Last time I covered Cult 51 Immediate Effects Serum and today I'm going to cover Cult 51 Night Cream. The night cream retails for £125 for 50ml, £30 more than the serum and a whopping £220 if you wanted to buy both, the price alone makes you think this cream must be fantastic for your skin. But is it?

Cult 51 Immediate Effects Serum

I'm going to jump right in now with a post on a serum that was recommended to me via a friend who knows about my on going hunt for a decent eye cream that targets fine lines under the eye, which I appear to be developing despite my best efforts to battle them.

That serum is the Cult 51 Immediate Effects Serum coming in at a staggering £95 for 30ml.
